Bring Back the Dead…Pretty Please.
December 22, 2007

Ok, so after my speedy last minute Christmas shopping this morning I had a little time to spare before work so I decided to sit down and pop one of my DVDs in my DVD player and enjoy a little cinematic adventure.
I took some time to figure out what I wanted to watch. Comedy or Drama. Musical or Horror.
Upon filing through my many choice I came across my prized TV series DVD collection. All seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, all five seasons of Angel and the whole first season of Trucalling.
That’s when it all came rushing back to me. These were three fantastic shows pulled from our lives at their prime. (Buffy not so much as the last two)
Trucalling ended as soon as things started getting good.
And dont even get me started on Angel. After five loyal seasons to the WB, those jerks at the network decide to cancel it. Why? So they could replace it with more demoralizing, idiotic reality TV?
I know. I sound crazy and I’m over dramatizing the whole thing. But Angel was like a baby to me. I watched the show from beginning to end. A true and loyal viewer. As any Angel fan. Season five was the absolute best. Joss Whedon and his crew took the show where they had never gone before.
A soul-bound vampire running a major (EVIL) law-firm? What?
To make matter even worse the best episodes of the whole season have to be the last few episodes that end the whole thing.
What a cruel, cruel world!
The last scene of the entire series ended with Angel and whats left of his crew in an alley way about to face millions upon millions of demon soldiers looking to behead then all. A giant dragon sailing through the sky to top it off. And then fade to black.
This loyal and true fan was left unknowing of Angels fate.
yet again…..what a cruel, cruel world!
I have to admit, Joss is a genius. He truly left us wanting and begging for more. But sadly in a very unhealthy way.
I sat down to watch the episode one day thinking I was finally over my anger. An hour later my friend found me in bed wrapping in a comforter and screaming “No!! Why!!” She literally had to take the remote and pop the DVD out and hide it to keep me from rewinding and putting myself through that torture over and over again.
It’s like reading the most amazing book in the world, getting to the best part and suddenly realizing someone pulled out the last couple of pages.
One top of that, so many loose end were left…well loose in Joss’s effort to wrap the show up on such short notice. There were so many way things could of gone from there. So many parts of the characters to explore.
If I could bring back any show EVER, it would have to be Angel.
So here is my requiem, my ode to all those shows that were ended way too early. Who were torn from our lives and our hearts in their prime.
RIP
What shows would you guys bring back from the dead?
